Technion's Faculty of Computer Science celebrated the 80th birthday of Prof. Azaria Paz on November 17, 2011 with two guest lectures. Paz was a founder and member of the faculty for 30 years.

Prof. Richard Karp of the University of California Berkeley and a Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Computer Science spoke on Theory of Computation as a Lens on the Sciences. Karp was awarded the Harvey Prize in 1998 by Technion, iIn recognition of his leadership and achievements in the areas of theoretical computer science and operations research, in particular for his fundamental contributions to the development of numerous combinatorical algorithms.
