 Dr Hossam Haick
Dr Hossam Haick of the Wolfson Faculty of Chemical Engineering and the Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute receives the Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques (a Knight of the Order of Academic Palms). Originally created by Napoleon to honor eminent members of the University of Paris, it is one of the oldest civil decorations in the world and is given for distinguished contributions to education.
Luc Chatel, French Minister of Education and Spokesperson of the French Government, sent Haick his sincere congratulations for this nomination, “greatly deserved for the quality of your research, your devotion for a more fraternal world and your proximity with France.”
Recently, the multinational research consortium which Haick heads received a record €5.3 m. from the European Research Council to study nanosensors for early detection of lung cancer.
